RMTC HORSERACING IN 2023

RMTC would like to move forward with horseracing in 2023 and that it will be a full and positive year.

Our 2023 race season is scheduled to start Kentucky Derby Day May 6, 2023, to end of June (Saturdays and

Sundays with one 3 day weekend); then in Grande Prairie for July and August; then back to Lethbridge first weekend

of September (starting Sun. Sept 3) to Thanksgiving weekend Monday, October 10th. Total of 32 race days (see

attached calendar).

Purses we anticipate will be minimums of approximately $6,000. (This will be at the start of our Spring Meet and will

be reviewed based on horse population and number of races.) The Also Ran bonus for 6th, 7th, 8th places will be

$125.00 (this is up from $75.00) The purse minimum is based on funds received by AGLC.

RMTC has sent out Service Canda paperwork for 14 foreign jockeys of which the paperwork is currently being

processed by the appropriate embassy. Some jockeys will submit their paperwork at the airport once they arrive in

Canada. A few of the jockeys that are in Canada still have to do additional paperwork. Plus there is a couple of

jockeys that have Canadian status that may ride in Lethbridge, Millarville and Grande Prairie in 2023.

RMTC is planning to open the race track for training approximately last week of March 26 (based on horse

population and weather permitting this date can be reviewed). You must confirm your stall location with the race

office prior to shipping in. If you have applied for a campground spot you must as well verify that you have one and if

approved where your stall is located.

Stakes Schedule for 2023 and preferences are attached. Please review preferences for all categories of stakes.

Timed works schedule and gate approvals will be set as required and times will be posted. Entries will be on

Tuesdays – entries open at 7:30am. We request all trainers enter early. Draws on Wednesday 10:15am.

Horse registration papers and coggins must be in the race office upon the horse arriving to the track. Digital papers

must be in the race office with the CORRECT OWNERSHIP.

Stall applications are due by March 6, 2023. All trainers must submit a stall ap to receive stalls.

The “B” Track Horse Population Program and Application is included must be submitted to ACTRA by June 30.
